About BPSI

Karen Schiermeyer, Accounts Receivable, Mother Hen, PITA

Karen has been with BPSI for seven years since relocating from Houston Texas in 1997. She likes to travel, especially to warm beach destinations. In a former life she had dreams of becoming a Open Ocean Research Marine Biologist, but her high school counselor crushed that dream. She's never quite forgiven him for suggesting she go into the computer industry instead.

What do you do with your spare time?
Go on exotic vacations, either actually or just in my mind. I've recently taken up wine-making.

How do you define success?
That's a very thought provoking question. I think the real question though is how do YOU define success?

If you were going to Mars, what three things would you take with you?
Enough fuel to return, enough sustenance (food&water) to survive, and air

What do you like most about your job at BPSI?
I like the flexibility of the hours, and the camraderie in the office

Who do you think made the best Bond?
I liked Timothy Dalton's soulful rendition very much.

Name 3 movies that you watch most frequently.
Amelie: The story is charming, the visuals are astonishing. There is very little NOT to like about this movie. In its own way it is quirky and haunting. It is an instant cheer-upper.

Gosford Park: This is an amazing period piece. Each actor is thoroughly believable in the parts they play. The stories are intricate and intertwined, and the camera work is such that you fell like you are walking though a room and hearing partial conversations. Repeated viewings give even more clues into the characters psyches. Watching with the Director commentary is a must.

Kissing Jessica Stein: This movie is a character development work. The characters are believable. While some of the situations feel contrived, the pacing works. It doesn't end in a Hollywood Happily Ever After, but it does leave you with hope and affection for the characters. The conversation in the taxi about lipstick, and the argument with the friend in the junkyard would be worth the price of admission alone, but the conversation on the porch swing between Jessica and her mother is the real gem of the movie.

If you could live anywhere, where would you choose and why?
South Kona, Hawaii. The landscape is vegetative and primal, the weather is warm and humid, and the people are laid back and easy going.

If you could be any of the 7 main characters on Gilligan's Island, who would you choose to be and why?
The Professor. He was the only character to have his own hut.
